Nothing says summer like a crop top! And while the idea of baring your belly may have you a little reluctant at first, crops tops exist in just about every style to flatter every body. You don’t need to have a six-pack to rock this fun, chic look – you just need to find the right style and wear it with confidence. From a cropped cut-in tank with high-waist skirt, to a boxy crop t-shirt with boyfriend jeans, there are dozens of ways to wear a crop top! Below are just a few of my favourite crops tops and some ideas of ways to wear them.
Wilfred Villeurbanne Tank, $35 CAD, Aritzia – This cropped muscle tank with a boxy fit is gorgeous when paired with a flowy skirt. While there is no obvious exposed skin, you get a brief glimpse of midriff at certain angles. This is my favourite way to wear a crop.
TOPSHOP Skinny Rib Crop Tee, $14 CAD, Hudson’s Bay – I love the look of this cropped t-shirt with a high waisted skirt – it shows a hint of skin just above the bellybutton, perfect if you’re not up for baring much of your stomach.
TOPSHOP 90’s Tile Print Cropped Cami, $38 CAD, Hudson’s Bay – For maximum 90’s appeal, try this strappy cropped cami with high-rise jeans that sit just below the belly button. You get a good flash of midriff with full belly button exposure, so this look requires a fair bit of confidence.
TOPSHOP Daisy Cut Out Top, $50 CAD, Hudson’s Bay – Because this crop top isn’t as fitted at the midriff, it offers the same glimpse of skin, but with a little less of a sultry factor. When paired in this matching set, this crop looks cute and sweet, rather than overtly sexy.
Wilfred Free Laine Tank, $40 CAD, Aritzia – A micro, cropped tank looks chic when paired with a high waist skirt in the same colour. A sleek fitted skirt with a slit, like the one pictured here, looks mature and pretty, while still looking surprisingly understated.
Crop Top In Rib With V Neck And Monday Blues Print, $38.08 CAD, ASOS – A boxy, fitted t-shirt is one of the most popular ways to wear a crop top. It can be worn over a maxi dress, paired with a skirt, or worn with high waisted jeans or shorts. It is by far the easiest kind of crop top in terms of versatility.
