Boyfriend jeans are as much a staple piece in my wardrobe as skinny jeans and black trousers. They’re casual, cool and comfortable. However, given their loose-fitting-verging-on-baggy silhouette, they can be difficult to pull off, especially for shorter girls. The boyfriend silhouette can look extremely edgy, but also has the tendency to look like you’re drowning in a pair of your dad’s jeans. After a whole lot of trial and error, here are my tips for styling the boyfriend jeans for maximum edginess.
A Casual Affair
I like to pair my boyfriend jeans with loose fitting t-shirts and tank tops in solids or stripes. I keep my top tucked in and my shoes simple to streamline the whole look. The key is choosing pieces that make your upper half look smaller than your bottom half, to balance the width of your pants.

For The Office
I would pair boyfriend jeans with a tighter fitting shirt in solid or stripes and throw on a blazer or cardigan that elongates my body. A jacket that hits below your hip makes your torso look longer, and visually balances the width of your pants. Add a pair of heels or mules to elongate your legs further.
