Grey-Street-Style-Sacramento-StreetUnless you’ve been living under a rock, you know grey is the new…(shade of) black. And this winter just about everyone’s been wearing it head to toe. While the idea of wearing all grey may feel a bit like a light version of New York City chic, when done right, shades of grey look just as nuanced and interesting as an outfit full of color. Here are some tips to rocking the monochromatic trend, as well as some of my favourite grey pieces and looks.

Mix up you textures… Multiple textures and finishes, like silky fabrics paired with waxed denim, will keep a grey outfit from looking too “one toned.”

Play with an androgynous look… Menswear-inspired looks are very big right now, and the monochromatic trend compliments the trend perfectly. Play it up with boyfriend jeans or flannels or structures oversized pieces.

Layer up… If you’re feeling gutsy, try piling multiple layers of grey on top of each other for a runway-worthy look.

Try tri-blend… While mixing garments that are different shades of grey are essential to pulling this look off, another thing to keep in mind is the blend of grey that you’re wearing. Tri-blends and marled knits add a nice differentiation to your outfit and keep your outfit from looking like a solid mass of grey.
