Sequins are the easiest way to add some shine to your wardrobe – but we can all admit, they’re a little tricky to work with. For me, the best time of year to sport this shiny option is during the holiday season. Once December hits, it’s sequin city! December is also the best time to purchase sequinned clothing because you’ll find the widest selection – so consider what items you can pick up now that can be re-purposed throughout the year.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when shopping for sequined apparel:
- Select items that can be layered in different ways in addition to being worn solo.
- Mix the fit of the sequined items (fitted, boxy and loose), this will allow for versatility.
- Be strategic in your selection; try to purchase only one of each item, for example, one dress, one skirt, one top, one pair of shorts.
- Items do not need to be fully sequined to count; look for some mixed material items as well.
- Choose pieces with clean, simple lines; do not over complicate the look as sequins are already a bold choice.
- Don’t be afraid to purchase colours besides basic black.
